For Atlanta-based online news-site, www.thepost-news.com, keeping their website up to the minute for its readers requires constant updating. When they first started, The Post came to QuickCreative needing a website that allowed their network of reporters to collaborate and immediately add breaking news, articles, commentary and photos on a continual basis. We recommended building the site using a Content Management System and used a product called Drupal. Joomla is another common CMS that we often use. A Content Management System is designed to separate the content of a website from the design of the site such that updates to the site can be easily added without in depth technical knowledge. As defined by Wikipedia, “A Content Management System (CMS) is a computer application used to create, edit, manage, and publish content in a consistently organized fashion. CMSs are frequently used for storing, controlling, versioning, and publishing industry-specific documentation such as news articles, operators’ manuals, technical manuals, sales guides, and marketing brochures”.

QuickCreative created and built the website for The Post using Drupal, a Content Management System which enables them to update the site 24/7.

We started in 2002 as a small advertising design agency with just 2 people - a print designer and a web developer.

Our first year we worked with local companies and business owners in designing their brochures, newsletters, print ads and websites.

Around this same time, a new trend began emerging in the printing industry as Commercial Print Houses began offering printing services online. No longer were people limited to using a print shop local to them. With all of the new technology emerging around the web, people were now able to upload their design files directly to a printer no matter where that printer was located.

Proofs were now viewed online (much more convenient and faster than making a special trip to the print shop or waiting for a Fed Ex package) and approvals or changes could be emailed instantaneously. How efficient and awesome this was!

This led us to say, “If printing services can be ordered online, Why not offer design online as well?” - and so we did. We revamped our website to offer online ordering and secure payment capabilities, and started receiving orders and talking with clients from all over the United States.

One of our favorite past times for our Monday morning meetings became checking off the states on a map each time we gained a client from a state we had yet to serve. (Anybody from South Dakota or Idaho - please call us!) Soon, new states were starting to get checked off and we continued to grow through referrals, repeat business, web presence, and more referrals.

We look forward to growing to become America’s graphic design and web shop.

For more information, please call me, Terry Palmer, Founder & Owner, at (404) 502-5531 or use our contact form. We look forward to helping you with your next advertising or web design project.
